Change

I wrote this the night of the 2008 presidential election while weeping and mourning over the state of our nation.

Change

Change, change
They want change,
They want it all right now;
They’re desperate for a handout,
So at greed’s throne they bow.

Change, change
They want change
They’re tired of the status quo;
Demanding more than they deserve,
They’ll soon reap what they sow.

Change, change
They want change
No matter what the cost;
They’ll sacrifice our freedoms
Until every freedom’s lost.

Change, change
We want change
The kind that rearranges
People’s hearts and minds to see
The Truth that never changes.

Change, change
I want change
In my mind and heart
To make me more like Jesus Christ
And always do my part

To see that others hear the truth
And cease their endless quest
For government to meet their needs;
Instead, in Christ to rest.

Change, change
God, give us change
The kind that rearranges
People’s hearts and minds to see
The Truth that never changes.
