Puffed Up and Hopeless

Man puffs himself up and in pride rejects God, rather choosing to believe he evolved than having been lovingly and carefully formed by the Creator. But in embracing this belief, I think man demonstrates how very insignificant he considers his own complexity and value. And he doesn’t even realize it.

Truly God thinks more highly of man, the crowning glory of His creation, than man must think of himself! This is the ironic sadness of the evolutionary worldview:  Low self-worth is cloaked in pride that blinds the eye to the truth of how very much God treasures humans–pride that causes a rift, often eternally, between man and the One who so desires fellowship with him. Fellowship worth Christ’s death on the cross.

Evolution–molecules to matter–life beginning without the very Source of life–is simply another lie from the father of lies who is in the business of concealing the cross, separating man from God, and destroying him–whatever it takes. Convincing him that he is a cosmic accident evolved from sludge is a fine method that is effective with far too many people and that frankly has caused far too much suffering.

The evolutionary worldview affects every aspect of life, for a devalued person is reduced to  a usable commodity and a disposable inconvenience. Hence, we all suffer the effects of manipulative politics, genocide, crime, and abortion. Obviously, sin is the root of all social ills, all human problems, but a flawed worldview certainly contributes greatly to the crippling of a society.

Devalued, purposeless, hopeless humans fashion a dark and hopeless world. But the truth is that as God’s creation, we are highly valued by Him, we have a purpose in Him, and we are never hopeless because of Christ and His redemptive work on the cross and the victoriously empty grave!

Worldview matters. It matters here and it matters eternally.

What’s yours?

All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. John 1:3-4 NAS
