What I think the Houston pastors should say to Mayor Parker

The following is an imaginary letter I wrote from the pastors in Houston to the city’s mayor, Annise Parker. You can read the news story here.

Dear Mayor Parker,

We noticed you haven’t notified the imams that they need to hand over their teachings. That’s probably a smart move on your part since they will kill you because you are a homosexual. But we suppose our messages that teach the actual truth of the Bible are even more threatening to you and your agenda.

No, we won’t kill you, but we will tell you that you are wrong. We will tell you that you are living in direct opposition to God’s laws. We will also tell you that there is forgiveness and salvation available to you at the cross of Christ. We will also tell you of the hope and peace that are yours in Jesus if only you ask, believe, and confess.

However, if you reject what we offer you, if you reject what God Most High offers you, and you follow through with your attack on Bible-teaching churches, you need to be ready for a battle like you’ve never seen. For we will not back down, we will not stop teaching the Bible, we will not stop speaking the truth no matter what.

You need to know that you won’t be taking on just the pastors in this city, but every single believer in the whole country. In fact, you’ll be taking on God Most High. Are you up for the task?

So, Mayor Parker, bring it on. We are eager for you to learn about this mighty God we serve. One way or another.

P.S. When you visit our church buildings, you will need to use the restroom labeled Women.
