Dear Church, just give me Jesus. Sincerely, America

When the church attempts to attract the world by looking like the world, when it tries too hard to be “relevant” to the culture, it screams to that culture that Jesus is not appealing on His own.

I beg to differ.

My Jesus–the Jesus I see shining forth from the pages of my Bible and working miracles of grace and mercy in my life–is gloriously irresistible. He doesn’t need to be dressed up or hyped up or changed up.

He just needs to be lifted up.

What would happen in our nation and the world if the church just lifted up Jesus?

Oh God, take us back to truth. To the gospel. To JESUS.

But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent. Revelation 2:4-5 NAS
